NSW Department of Technical and Further Education - Ulladulla, NSW

Objectives

Enviro Trees were engaged to assess and recommend a wholistic grounds maintenance solution for the TAFE Campus at Ulladulla on the NSW South Coast.

Challenges

  • Campus site with multiple zones.

  • Multiple stakeholders involved.

  • Job scope not well defined, Enviro to provide recommended solutions based on assessment.

  • Overgrown site.

  • Mix of work including tree works, garden clearance and sourcing and planting.

Solutions

  • Our Enviro Tree Partner we selected has combined tree and garden capabilities, is experienced in working on the Dept of Education campuses and is in close proximity to the Ulladulla site.

  • We met the TAFE stakeholders on site and conducted a walk-through across the campus and discussed priorities and potential areas of focus.

  • A site map was developed, clearly identifying each area on the campus that was to be subject to proposed works.

  • Scope of works included:

    • Dead wooding various trees using climbers and EWP’s.

    • Lifting tree canopy.

    • Trim overhanging branches from roof lines.

    • Clear shrubs/trees from safety signs.

    • Uplift branches that were posing a WH&S (eye safety) risk.

    • Remove and stump grind trees around gas tanks and fire hydrants to ensure standard clearances.

    • Remove and stump grind unsafe trees (e.g. cracked, unstable).

    • Prepare, source indigenous plants from a local indigenous owned organisation and plant an indigenous plant garden.
